PorchFriend

What it is

PorchFriend is a neighborhood app where local families help each other out. It starts with volunteering rides to appointments — the everyday kind, like getting to the doctor or the pharmacy — and is growing into meal delivery and potluck signups.

Why it exists

Most neighborhoods already have the goodwill; what’s missing is the coordination. Who needs a ride this week? Who’s bringing soup to the family that just had a baby? PorchFriend makes the asking and the answering easy, so helping out stops depending on who happens to overhear.

Where it’s headed

Rides are the first step. Meal delivery and potluck signups are next — the same simple idea, applied to more of the ways neighbors already show up for each other.
